It Is Time to Stimulate Your Own Economy!

It Is Time to Stimulate Your Own Economy!

Now that the elections are over, and we are back to realizing that nothing has dramatically changed, it is time for us to realize that the government is not going to suddenly change the economy and make it easy for us to reach the levels we desire.

No government plan is going to suddenly change the environment for small business owners and sales professionals.  We need to be in control of our own destiny and we need to create our own stimulus package.

Create a Mastermind Group to Reach Success

There are many times when one is in business for themselves that they can feel alone.  We can feel like we are all by ourselves when it comes to figuring out how to improve our business and increase our sales.   This is why I feel it is vital to our success that we develop a “Mastermind Group” where we can collaborate with others and help each other not only learn new ideas, but also to keep one another motivated and driven.

Who should make up this Mastermind Group?  That depends on what you are personally looking to get out of it.

What All Networkers Can Learn From the Movie We Bought a Zoo!

What All Networkers Can Learn From the Movie We Bought a Zoo!

I watched a fantastic movie this weekend while recovering from a terrible cold.  The movie was We Bought a Zoo.  If you have not watched this movie I highly recommend it!  It has a terrific message, and is in fact based on a true story!

Anyways, while watching this movie there was a great line that I think all professionals can learn from when it comes to networking.  That may seem odd as this story has zero to do with running a business, but still I believe we can learn valuable life lessons from the smallest of moments if we are open to it.

Are You Letting Excuses Dictate Your Success?

Are You Letting Excuses Dictate Your Success?

I believe one of the top traits of those who are extremely successful is that they never make excuses.  The people who are at the levels of success we desire do not let things hold them back from reaching their dreams and goals.  They don’t let others, or changing circumstances, dictate their success.

Networking With Intention

Networking With Intention

Just this week I attended a great speaking event where the focus was Living Your Life, and Running Your Business with Intention.   I loved the topic and believe it is true with networking as it is with anything else in our lives.

Far too often I meet people who are at networking events with no real purpose for why they are there.  They have no clear vision of what it is they are trying to accomplish at that event or meeting.  I don’t think it is a surprise then why they tend to see little results from their networking efforts.

How Do You Stay Motivated To Network When All You Want To Do Is Go Home?

How Do You Stay Motivated To Network When All You Want To Do Is Go Home?

I was recently asked the following question “How do you stay motivated to go to networking meetings after a long day in the office, when all you want to do is go home?”

This was a fantastic question that caught me off guard just a bit.  It caught me off guard because it really made me think about why it was that I am always motivated to go to the meetings, and to continue to invest the time networking.  Make no mistake networking is a true INVESTMENT of time.  There can be such a lag in time before we realize results from our networking efforts we do need to stay motivated to keep going despite the lack of immediate results.

You Never Know Who Holds the Key to Your Dream Referral

You Never Know Who Holds the Key to Your Dream Referral

A huge mistake I see people make all of the time is they make assumptions based on someone’s profession, or age, whether that person is worth networking with or not.  Again this is a HUGE MISTAKE!

We never know who someone knows.  We don’t know who their friends are, who their family members are, or where they may have worked before they came into the profession they are in now.  We cannot possibly know who makes up their contact list.   In my past blog I talked about how I believe that the average business owner, and sales professional, probably has close to 1,000 contacts if not more.  Not all of those contacts are current clients.

How To Be One Phone Call From 15,000 Potential Referrals!

How To Be One Phone Call From 15,000 Potential Referrals!

You can have 15,000 potential referrals just one phone call away? You can have 3.75 million potential referrals just two phone calls away?

Yes you can.

They say the average person knows 250 people.  I personally believe that for business owners, and sales professionals, that number is probably closer to 1,000 when you consider all of your contacts.  That number would include friends, family, colleagues, past colleagues, customers, people you network with etc.

Can You Network Too Much? Yes!

Can You Network Too Much? Yes!

Can you do too much networking?  Can you belong to too many networking groups?

The answer is YES!

There are a lot of professionals out there who like to go to as many networking events/groups as they possibly can.  Many have the belief that the more networking you do the more results you will see, and unfortunately that just isn’t the case.

The First Step to Gaining More Referrals - Figuring Out Who You are Looking For

The First Step to Gaining More Referrals - Figuring Out Who You are Looking For

In our most recent VIDEO training we talk about how to ask for referrals, and the importance of being specific.  The question I often ask people is who are you REALLY looking for?

You see the issue is that most professionals go out networking telling people that anyone, and everyone, is a good referral for them.  They give these difficult descriptions of who they are looking to work with, and this is the number one cause of their lack of results.

This often leads to a question I am then asked which is: How do I begin to narrow my focus?
