Think back to the last networking event that you attended.  When you were preparing for that event and thinking about what you wanted to accomplish, did you think about how many referrals or sales you wanted to get from that event?  If you are like most of us, you did.  We will often go to an event in the hopes of getting business, and that is normal.  However, let’s think about another question.  When you went to that event did it ever enter your mind how many products or services you wanted to buy that evening?

STOP Selling and Begin Networking!

As humans we love to buy things.  We LOVE it!  We all have a list in our heads of all of the things we want to buy.  However, we HATE to be sold to.  Anytime we feel like we are being sold to, or are about to be sold to, we shut down.  We start thinking of all of the reasons we don’t need a product or service, even if we are the best candidates in the world for it. We will even lie to try and avoid being sold.
